Dear Family and Friends,
I’ve been helping more people with Family History
lately. This is probably my favorite
activity for two reasons. First because
every person I encounter has mysteries to be solved. It’s as hard to put down as a good book. And second, because it doesn’t hurt my back.
Yeah, I’m trying to serve more with my brain and less with my back.

Hermanas Campbell, Omar and Villacres (on her birthday)
My next favorite activity is teaching the gospel with the
sister missionaries. Hermana Villacres
and Hermana Campbell teach like angels!
Thursday, after delivering food to refugees (a sweaty, back-breaking
activity) I was able to race home and change just in time to meet with these
sweet sisters and teach our new friend Manuel about God’s plan of
salvation. It makes me so happy to tell
people that God has provided a way for us all to return to live with him.
And on Friday I helped deliver gifts to firefighters in
honor of the anniversary of September 11th. We had bags of thank-you cards from
children (who were not even alive at the time of the tragedy but who were
nonetheless grateful.) And we had gift
cards for meals and food. The lady I was
working with and I talked about where we were at the time of the tragedy. I was on my way to work; she was in the 4th
grade. It felt good to take a moment to
remember and acknowledge the sacrifices and acts of heroism.
I guess the common theme in my activities this week has been
the importance of remembering--remembering those who went before us,
remembering those who suffered and served selflessly, and, above all,
remembering what our Savior has done for us.
Henry B. Eyring said, “Remembrance is the seed of gratitude which is the
seed of generosity. Gratitude for the remission of sins is the seed of charity,
the pure love of Christ. And so God has made possible for you and me this
blessing, a change in our very natures.”

Keep remembering!
I love you all,
