Pushing Kindness!
Dear Family & Friends,
Happy Valentine’s Day
I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve this last week. Some of these included serving in the temple, in the family history center, teaching ESL, and various teaching opportunities.
Last Thursday I learned why I like serving people so much. The Knightdale Relief Society had a Valentine’s party. It was very enjoyable. It was pot-luck. I made soup and salad. And I made some new friends whom I hope to be able to serve. Then we had a short presentation about how serving others produces chemicals (like oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine) in the brain that make us feel good! Who knew? Kindness is crack
(If you don’t believe me, google it!)
On Friday, the weather was warm (70˚) and beautiful, so I went to the park. I think my Spanish is improving because I was able to teach a woman in Spanish. I shared with her some of my favorite scriptures and told her about the restoration of the gospel and the Book of Mormon. She said she would study the Book.
I met another super nice person at the park. She was very talkative even though she had a serious stutter. She wasn’t interested in the Book of Mormon, but we had a nice conversation about our loving Father in Heaven, and our Savior, and how we are all brothers and sisters, and how, because God likes variety, He made us all different, and has blessed us all with different gifts. Then she told me that although she stutters and does not have a gift in speaking, she has a gift to sing. I asked her to sing, so she did! It was a beautiful song of praise. Truly, God knows how to give good gifts to His children! (Matthew 7:11)
I love you all,
Keep pushing kindness!
