Why are they then baptized for the dead? 1Corinthians 15:29
October 10, 2021
Dear Family & Friends,
The highlight of this week was going to the temple with Sheri Wednesday night and doing proxy baptisms! Sheri was able to be baptized for her grandmother and other family members who had died without the opportunity of receiving the ordinances of the restored gospel. Earlier in the week, Sheri told me her family wondered why Sheri was going to do proxy baptisms for people who, during life, had already been baptized into other Christian churches. I gave Sheri a way to explain to her family about Priesthood authority using an analogy about the ice cream man who wants to but can’t pull over and ticket people who speed because he lacks the authority.
I continue contacting people in public places. One was a Walmart employee named Zion. When I quoted to him Moses 7:18, he was interested!
For a while I was a little hampered in my contacting efforts by the fact that I was almost out of pass-along cards. The ones with the picture of Jesus on them are best. I tried to get more pass-along cards at the mission office, but they were out. Actually, they didn’t realize they were out because they have lots of boxes of the Mormon.org cards. (I know if people visit that old site, they will be redirected to Churchofjesuschrist.org. But after the Church has tried so hard to establish the correct name of the church, I don’t want to confuse people. And Mormon didn’t die for my sins.)
But, no worries, I found a whole box of cards at church today. So I’m back in business! And I even have enough to give to any interested person who walks by our apartment door. Check out this photo of our door decor!
I love you all,
Sister Manwaring
