I am a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Dear Family,
I’ve discovered ways to invite people to come unto Christ
I've attached some photos of where I’ve been
inviting and teaching.
Yes! I go to the park, or the store, or anywhere and just walk up and start talking to people. Since last Sunday,
I’ve contacted 37 persons, taught 9 brief lessons, and gave away 4 Books of Mormon!
I was inspired by letters & messages from missionary relatives and by D&C 33: 8,9,10 which says, “Open your
mouths and they shall be filled….Yea, open your mouths and spare not….Yea open your mouths and they shall
be filled…” I can truly testify that the Holy Ghost has given me the words.

At first I would walk up and tell people God loved them and that they can be with their families forever even
after they die. All of them just said they already knew that. But one woman at a park gave me a better
approach. She asked me to explain “Latter Day.” This lead to a discussion of the church Jesus Christ established
in the former days, which lead to a discussion of the apostasy, which lead to a discussion of the restauration!
One woman (after I explained the apostasy) told me she had always wondered why there were so many different
Christian churches. A few have thanked me and told me it was just what they needed to hear that day!
Three gave me their names & numbers and asked for missionaries to contact them.
For the ones who aren’t interested, I just encourage them to post positive Christian messages on Facebook and
other social media. They always agree to that. I explain that there’s a lot of hate & anger in the world and our
church is trying to encourage love and kindness.

One of my best places to contact people is while waiting in line at a store. I discovered this one day when the
self-check-out line at Walmart was inexplicably shut down and the lines were super long. I let a lady to ahead
of me. She was appreciative and we started talking. The line was slow enough that I was able to explain that
Christ’s church had been restored again in the latter days. I told her that after His resurrection Christ visited
and taught the people in this continent, showing that God loves and speaks to all his children. Then she waited
for me to complete my own purchase and run to my car to get a Book of Mormon for her! (And, yes, she gave
me her name and phone number!)
Now I never go to the self-check-out line. Yesterday I contacted three people while standing in line to buy two
bananas! I just keep letting people go ahead of me!

I will end this letter with an experience I had with the four Elders in my district. Last Wednesday after our
missionary district council meeting we went to lunch together. While we were standing in line for food, I talked
to two different persons about the restored gospel. (One of these was in Spanish!) I gave one of the persons a
Book of Mormon and showed him all the places where I had underlined the name of the Savior. I testified that
it truly was another witness of Christ. Both persons gave me their names and phone numbers.
Later that day I saw a FB Messenger post my district Leader had sent to the whole zone.
He wrote: “We were literally at (name of restaurant) with Sister Manwaring and the Elders present were able
to witness her in action. She is an incredible missionary and an example of bold confidence… We are so lucky
to have her in our zone!!!”

I actually don’t feel confident. I just make myself open my mouth, and I can honestly say that D&C 33 works!
It feels great to share the gospel. It feels good to have the confidence of my fellow laborers. I love being a
missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

I love you all
Sister Manwaring
PS. I hope this letter hasn’t sounded boastful. I feel like Ammon who said “Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to
my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can
do all things….”
